Swine Sales Specialist

General Responsibility Statement
The Swine Sales Specialist generates revenue by developing market potential through forecasting, lead generation, qualification, and closing sales; recommending new products and finding ways to grow current product sales. This position also supports the CEO through attending Swine exchange and similar events. Conduct follow up on the leads acquired through these events.


Essential Job Responsibilities
The essential job responsibilities consist of the following:


1. Sales
a. Sell products in the Swine sector.
b. Become an expert of all new products as requested per Director of Sales.
c. Initiate calls to new customers to create sales.
d. Call on existing and prospective customers within the framework of a business development call program.
e. Discuss customer needs, problems, complaints, and arrange meetings between customers or prospective customers and representatives of various company functional areas.
f. Document calls and results and make reports to management as required.
g. Expand sales in existing accounts - introduce new products and educate new applications.
h. Achieve the established sales metrics as determined by supervisor.
i. Strive to meet goals set by the Director of Sales.
j. Increase sales as determined by direct supervisor.
k. Engage in sales activities – majority of sales originating via phone or on-site visit; coupled with email, mail, text, and fax.
l. Grow distributor relations and sales activities.
m. Compile and analyze information in CRM with current distribution and sales contacts. Make recommendations as appropriate.
n. Maintain CRM database with client information, sales stage processes and client opportunities, including distribution relationships and contacts.
o. Act on and achieve individual goals in alignment with departmental and organizational goals.
p. Represent the company in civic and various community/marketing functions for enhancement of its image and business development.


2. Reporting and Training
a. Weekly reporting as required by supervisor. b. Daily training as required by supervisor. c. Attend and actively engage in team/sales meetings. d. Attend distribution sales meetings when needed. e. Increase job knowledge – study products, industry, and participate in educational opportunities.


3. Research & Development
a. Work with R&D and supervisor to coordinate and execute trials.


4. Other Duties
a. This position shall support its manager and perform other duties as requested.
b. Willing to receive direction and input from the Executive team.

Education, Reasoning Ability & Experience
A minimum of 2 to 5 years’ experience in direct sales or customer operations is required. Associate degree in business or animal health field preferred. Related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience considered.



Communication and Language Skills
Ability to read the audience and situation and communicate effectively. Conveys thoughts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Capacity to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations. Communicate professionally, refrain from foul and inappropriate language.

Travel Requirements
This position does require some overnight travel. The estimated travel frequency is 50% of the time for on-site visits / consultations and tradeshows.



Physical Demands
Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Required to sit and use computer, handle paperwork, also to stand and use hands and fingers to grasp and hold objects, tools and/or controls, likewise reach with arms and hands. The employee is also, at times, exposed to fumes and or airborne particulates.
